Coming bookish events

The Perth Poetry Festival snuck up on me so I didn’t have any chance to spread the word, I’m afraid. It opened Thursday night in Northbridge with a keynote address by John Kinsella. Today events start from 12noon with a free Poets Aloud event at the Perth Cultural Centre wetlands and the WA Slam Finals tonight. Tomorrow the festival heads to Crow Books for an afternoon event before an emerging poets panel and the festival close in Northbridge. Get into it.

While we’re talking about coming events New Edition Bookshop has an author’s talk A Boy’s Short Life with Anna Haebich and Steve Mickler on August 27.  The free event will feature discussion of the tragic early death of a young Aboriginal man Warren Braedon, who is the focus of the book A Boy’s Short Life. RSVP via projects@writingwa.org.

Any other events coming up we should know about? Get in touch in comments or email leatherboundpounds@gmail.com.
